My little Sutton is growing up! He will be two years old July 24th...gosh how time flies. Well tonight we were getting ready for bath and Max was going to the bathroom before bath and the thought crossed my mind that I should get out the little potty just for Sutton to start seeing it. I thought we could talk about it and just have it around for the next 6 months. I'm not a mom who pushes potty training on my kids...Max did it when he was ready and he never turned back. So again, I wasn't thinking anything would happen....
Sutton wanted to sit down on it...so I helped him. His body is a little bigger than most kids his age so it was a little bit of a tight fit to get him on the little potty. He sat down, I told him what to do and nothing. I told him I was proud of him and good job for trying. He stood up, looked in the potty and decided to try again. We went through this exercise about 7 times and then I told him to sit down and I would get a book to read to him (thought it would help him relax). As I went around the corner to get a book, Max said, "Mom he did it!" Sure enough, I came back in and there was pee in the potty (and a few other places!) So there we sat in the bathroom praising Sutton for his job well done. He loved it! So he sat down again and went another time! At this time I was in shock because I just wasn't expecting this at all. I don't think by any means that he is ready to be potty trained for good, or has this thing down. BUT, I was proud of him for doing it and excited to see him so proud of himself.
So, we did bathtime and everyone (even Max) got M & Ms for going pee in the potty! So after bathtime, Sutton sat down on the potty and went again! By the end of the night, he had gone 3 times! When he went to bed, he kept trying to say, "M & Ms". I told him he could try to go potty again in the morning and get more candy! Max's school gave the kids one M & M each time they tried to go potty. It worked really well for him and he got it down in no time. Don't worry, we don't normally still give him M & Ms for going to the bathroom. But, Sutton will get them for a little while as he is learning. He is like his momma and we'll do anything for food, especially chocolate!
I wish I could post a picture of him on the potty because it's so cute....but since this is the internet, I won't.
Here's to the next 6 months to fun times at the potty!

I love it! Thanks for calling us! Wish we could have been there. How funny is it that and cool that our boys get to go through all of this together. Well, maybe you and I get to do this together...I guess they have no clue! Love you and give Sus kisses for me. We'll let you know if we actually pee anytime soon.
Love, Aunt Molly
Yeah for Sutton!! M & M's worked with all the kids at the daycare! Hope you all are doing great!
Love,
Ms. Brandi
Oh goodness! I am so proud of him! I am missing my little buddy. We need to get together soon! Give him a big squeeze for me!

Yeah for Sutton! I bribed mine at times with dum dum's...they are cheap! Carter is too wanting to learn, but so far has only peed once and pooped twice...not to bad, considering we aren't too yet. I really don't want two in diapers when Cole gets here! Keep up the good work mom!
