We got to hear our little person's heartbeat this week...and it's always so great to hear that sweet sound! It helps to solidify the pregnancy in my mind when I get to hear the heartbeat....I have felt a few flutters of movement, but always like to be reassured the baby is doing well. We are now 17 weeks and will find out who the next addition to our family will be on November 26th (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving!) I think we have decided to take the boys with us. We took Max to one of the ultrasounds we did for Sutton, and it was amazing to see how much he understood. And, how much going to the ultrasound helped him understand even more. He talked for months (and still remembers) going to see Sutton "on the computer" as he would say it.
I do think it will help the boys to know if they are going to have a little brother or sister. To name them, to start talking about them, and to start arranging our house to accomodate just one more little munchkin.....
Thanksgiving week the boys will be moving to share a room, and they are really excited. We have been talking it up, but I'm still a little nervous. I shared a room with Molly growing up, it helped create a great friendship between us, taught us how to share, and we just had fun. Of course, we fought some....but sharing a room brought us so much more good than any bad. I picked Thanksgiving week because Max is out of school almost the whole week, so that gives us a week of them staying up giggling/talking in their room and not going to bed on time. I know there will be an adjustment period with this. And then with Christmas right behind, it will give us even more time to get used to it. Since the baby will come in April, I wanted Sutton to not feel like he was being pushed out of his room. So overall, this felt like the best thing for everyone!
After MUCH thought, we have decided on what we want to name the baby. If it is a boy, we have decided on Luke William. Luke has always been a favorite name for me, and Greg loved it too. I actually tried to get my friend Sheridan to name her son that...but now am glad it didn't work out for them! (You know what I mean Sher!) We decided on William because my father in law's name is William and Greg's mom's maiden name was Williams. So we thought it had some neat family ties, either way. For a girl, we have decided on Reese Katheryn. We have both liked Reese (that was a favorite if Sutton was a girl too). And Katheryn...well that name has LOTS of family (Greg's mom's middle name, his grandmother's name, and my sister Molly's middle name) So we are thrilled to have that decided!
So many people have asked if we were trying for a girl...so I just HAVE to say....That no! We were trying for another baby....we are thrilled to be parents of boys. (We actually like our kids...) Yes, it's a little loud and crazy sometimes....but we will be thrilled to find out either way. Sorry, I'm just tired of hearing people say to me they want me to have a girl. I just want to have a healthy baby. Don't get me wrong, it would be fun to experience the difference between a boy and a girl, but since I have no control of that, I just have refused to think much about it. I think it is well intentioned...but does that mean that if we have another boy that this child is not as special? No way! Just today, I probably had 3 people tell me they were praying for a girl, or something to that extent. And I guess it just hits me the wrong way......If we find out we are having another boy, I hope everyone shares in our excitement. That is not a disappointment to me! God knows what is best for us.....
To end on a happy note (sorry I'm so "emotional") we had Max's birthday party and invited his friends from school. This was his first year to invite school friends and he was so excited. I will download the pictures and put some on here. And Sutton, oh I need to do a post on him. He is talking so much now....and (drumroll please) has been wearing underwear for over a week now! We just crack up listening to him talk and the things he says. Tonight at dinner after Greg prayed, he said he wanted to pray. So we all bowed our heads and Sutton said, "Max not praying". I looked up and he was right, Max was trying to eat! Little stinker! So we got it together and Sutton prayed....Dear God....Dear God (he said it a few times in a row) then prayed listing each of our family, "Pray for daddy, pray for mommy, pray for matts (max) and pray for dutton (sutton)! Oh little people, you bring great joy to our lives! Love you bunches!!
